A friend mentioned to me recently about an annoying Scimitar trait namely the seat belt locking mechanism continually being at the base of the Drivers/Passengers seats. Forcing people to possibly stop, re-open the door, fumble for the catch and secure the seat-belt before setting off.

I showed him my simple remedy to this problem and he suggested I share it with you all; I have done this mod on a few Scimitars that I have owned.

Firstly purchase 2 x Ford Seat Belt Retaining Buttons at £1.14 + vat each Part No 1143742. Then using something with a sharp point, I carefully push the nipple of the button through the belt and then clip the fastener to the other side of the belt. (I usually need a pair of pliers to gently snap the clip together.) The whole job takes about 2/3 minutes per belt.

Disclaimer

I have done this mod purely off my own back and cannot say there is no effect on the seat belt integrity; however these clips are fitted to most present day cars to solve the same problem.
