MB / SE6 Wishbone Issue

It is difficult to see from the pictures but the right hand end is too thick to fit in. The casting was wrong. Nigel rang Graham Walker and all his are the same. Nigel the offered me a second hand one. I ideally wanted a new one thinking it would be less likely to have any metal fatigue in it. I said that I would get the new one milled down to the right size and asked if it would be any cheaper. All I got was if that it didn't work that I could send it back. Two hours work and it now fits perfect. Look closely at the left hand end of it.

There is a third hole drilled through it. I Spoke with Nigel and he said the later ones were like this and that they probably came off a Daimler Dart and that hole was used for it's anti roll bar. The bolt that goes through the trunion is a different design and incorperates a rubber washer between a metal washer and a cover. Eric tells me he's heard of the wishbone problem before and that different solutions have been tried. One was to fit a grease nipple into the trunion and another was to drill a hole down the middle of the bolt and then cross drill it in the middle, again with a grease nipple on the end of it.

Pete.

NOTE: I know of three Middlebridge Cars that have already suffered the above problem. I would get your wishbones checked over the next time your cars on a ramp (MOT) or when the wheels are off. Mick.

Many thanks to Pete for yet another valuable tip.
