Middlebridge 33
Brief History:
Registered on 01.08.89 and originally white in colour. Post purchase she was delivered to Nigel at Queensberry Road Garage (Marque Specialist) for a complete re-paint in Cadbury's Purple for the new owner. I was made aware the car was owned by a director of Cadbury's. Incredibly, November 2023 whilst at the NEC Lancaster Classic Car Show I was lucky enough to meet a Mr Ian Burgess who came to the Middlebridge stand, he confirmed that he was responsible for looking after the Cadbury Middlebridge car, doing daily checks and servicing it in the Cadbury's garage! Ian looked all over the car including engine bay and was delighted to be re-united with the actual car he tended early in its life. I explained that we were not aware of the significance of the car or its colour until some years later, we had chosen the 'old gold' colour as per the original Middlebridge Pearl Colour Swatch.. Ian told me that he enjoyed the car so much his own classic car is a Ford Scorpio that shares the very same transmission. She was then not seen again prior to April 2002 when QRG (Queensbury Road Garage) acquired the car and sold it to the present owner, me. :o) Bizarrely enough while this car was on the RSSOC Club stand at the NEC 2007, Mr John McCauley, Joint Managing Director of Middlebridge Scimitar Ltd turned up and spoke with Club representatives saying he was delighted to finally to see a Middlebridge version of the Scimitar on display, he sat in the car and had photos taken. A brief overview of my Own Personal Highlights:
2008. On the return leg of a family holiday in Southern Spain, we headed north to Paris. I had pre-booked to take part in the inaugural four-day Classic Car extravaganza at Disneyland Paris. When we arrived, our car was extremely dusty and desperately in need of a thorough clean inside & out! We had all agreed on route to spend an hour cleaning / clearing her out and then enjoy what Disneyland had to offer with me returning to the car occasionally. The car park was full of mega-serious exotica which was no real surprise. (See events area of the MB website) However on the final day I was truly shocked when my Middlebridge took runner up at the event and only lost by the smallest of margins in the most keenly fought category of Sports Car! Later in the same year she went on to win the RSSOC Concours D' Elegance and was awarded the cup in August 2009.
2013/14 She made several trips to Gatcombe and became known by the security police, she was also allowed near the house which is incredibly rare to say the least. (See Gallery pictures No 5). 2018, Attended some great MESS events, these included the Ace Cafe London, the Lincolnshire Air Musuem & Piston & Props. (See website events area for details). 2019, Invited to the Silverstone Media day which included laps of the full GP circuit. Silverstone treated us to a professional photo-shoot & video footage during a lap. What really shocked & surprised me was seeing my car all over MSN and all of the various social media platforms in the lead up to the biggest Classic Car Show in the World!
