Autokarna 2014

01/06/2014

Location: Nottingham

Once again we booked the hottest day of the year to date and we all bathed in glorious sunshine. The huge visitor-turnout enjoyed a super event with hundreds of Classic Cars, Buses, Trucks, Motor Bikes and many side events as well. We had five cars on display with two of the Middlebridge's making their first outings, one after a respray and the other after a full restoration! Bruce Beauchamp arrived in his Reliant GTC as his proper Scimitar was delayed at the trimmers.

I was the early bird arriving on site at 08.15 after a great drive north and soon found our pitch after seeing a lovely mid-blue coloured MB parked up in position. This was the car's first outing after a full restoration, and boy does she look resplendent in her new colour. Steve Robinson, the owner, has done a few minor mod's to the car which also had us all drooling. Then he opened the bonnet and really amazed us all - the whole under-bonnet area has been very well de-cluttered of wiring etc and really looks the business.

With the sun now tanning us we saw another MB in the distance (you could not miss it) we all donned our sunglasses as Pete and Marie Humphries arrived in Pete's newly painted MB, and boy is she bright. There is now no doubt where the 'King of Bling' title now belongs! His arrival was enhanced by a matching shirt and baseball cap. Wow!

The colour itself is stunning with some 400hrs of preparation have gone into it. Close-up the paint has a lovely smooth silky finish and is set-off by a refurbished black leather interior and black wheels.

We are delighted to say that Adkins Bakery Ltd, of Nottingham are sponsoring the Middlebridge 25th Anniversary Events, and as you will see from the pictures we have a banner to promote our sponsor. Also, being a bakery, Adkins supplied a lovely cake for us and many others to scoff down. Now to the crux of it all. The cake was cut by Helen, who was an Adkins (of Bakery fame) and is now the wife of Steve the owner of the just restored Middlebridge as mentioned above. Steve also owns Middlebridge No 8 which is Cosworth Powered with manual transmission. (We do look forward to drooling over this car one day).

May we take this opportunity to say a big thank you to Helen and Steve for their generous Sponsorship, and for attending Autokarna, and for the lovely 'Tasty' cake, and for bringing their Middlebridge along too. We would of course like to thank everyone else for attending and to Peter for really brightening up our day.
