Brooklands Concorde Experience
25th August 2019
Location: Brookland, Surrey
Having initially suggested a Concorde event I was looking forward to heading South to Brooklands. (our chosen venue.) The other owners were staying over at a local hotel but I had to work on the Saturday. Anyway Matt and I met up early and flew down there in my Middlebridge incredibly we were there waiting for the others to come to breakfast at 7am.
Well what a day 33 degrees and blazing sun. We arrived at Brooklands Museum and went in en mass, we were escorted to a lovely parking area adjacent the small museums. During the morning we attended relaxed Concorde meetings and a breakfast. This was followed up with the Concorde tour and what a tour, we all had Champagne on board and listened intently to stories given by actual Concorde Flight Attendants, everyone thoroughly enjoyed this. At the same time we went up in pairs to the Flight deck (more switches than a Scim) and were truly amazed at the sheer complexity of the aircraft.
During the afternoon we had a Concorde style tea followed up by a few videos. I should point out that all of the people are ex Concorde Staff who just do the job for the museum unpaid.
Next up, the photo-shoot and needless to say we were all looking forward to this, firstly a shot at the bottom of the steps prior to lining up for the main pictures, please note that some may appear similar but look at the steps and we will be there waving.
NOTE: The picture of Matt, myself, Bruce and Allison seated on board Concorde.
What a great day, one of the best, to top it all everyone got home safely even though it was a full 33 degrees when leaving Brooklands to head for the motorways. I look forward to returning there again as there is lots more to see and explore.
