Innaugural Middlebridge Rally

04/10/2009

Location: Nottingham

This event was organised by George Sampford who has really excelled and helped forward the marque this year 'well done and thanks George.' This event followed closely behind the Curborough anniversary meet and although not as many cars attended (10 in a row) the event was a huge sucess, the cars were lined up in the Centre of Nottingham (Market Square) with our banner proudly advertising the marque, the people of Nottingham were very keen and interested in the cars and some were shocked to discover they were built just around the corner in Beeston.

George had contacted the local Radio and Newspapers to advertise the event locally and with great sucess as we had many ex Middlebridge staff attend including John McCauley (ex Joint MD ) of Middlebridge, John even gave us a half hour talk about Middlebridge in general, Phil Watchorn (Factory Manager) brought along a wealth of pictures and data that hopefully one day will be available via this site. It was also the first time in many years that some of the Middlebridge Staff had met and they quickly started sharing their stories with us, everybody was keen to move forward and we have quietly been looking at organising another event in the Nottingham area.

We would like to say a big 'Thank You' to John McCauley, Marketing Director), Terry Hextall (Buyer), Phil Watchorn (Production Manager / Engineer), who brought along a lot of previously unseen archive-type stuff, Steve Lowe (Build Finisher) and Bernie McCormack . Bernie delivered some of the cars to the dealers, collected goods for the stores which he also helped to run, and, in a former life he had been a hairdresser so he cut the employees hair too!.
